SWIM 2.4 MILES
BIKE 112 MILES
RUN 26.2 MILES

THEN YOU ARE A IRONMAN!

We (Michael, Hunter, April and Me) had a fabulous
weekend volunteering at the Ironman 2011 in Tempe.

This is a picture at the start of the swim. We are half way
down the lake in our kayaks waiting to assist any swimmers
in need. It is such an adrenaline rush!!

Here are some fun facts about Ironman 2011 Arizona.

Approximately 1500 people volunteered for event.
3010 people registered to race.
21% didn't even start ( mostly due to injury or lack of training )
6% didn't finish
72% are male
Average age is 37 (mid life crisis age)
The youngest person was 18 and the oldest 74.
Average time per week training for event is 18 - 30+ hours (it's a part time job)
Average time to prepare for event is 7 months
Entry fee for the event is $650.00 Ouch!
(event is already sold out for 2012)

Race starts at 7:00am and cut off time is Midnight.
You have 17 hours to complete the 140.6 miles.
Fastest time was 7:59:38
Slowest - even though the cut off is midnight a gentleman
wanted to finished for himself and came in around 2am.

If you want to be inspired, amazed or in awe think about
volunteering next year or even just coming out to watch
the event. We all plan on being on the Kayak crew again
next year and sign on to do another station
in the evening. Plus......We plan on signing up to participate
in IRONMAN 2013!

Crazy just took on a whole new meaning!

Nice Blog Mike!

Great to have you on the Anthem Team! Did you make the team pic's on Saturday?

I am looking to build a blog as well and really enjoyed what you had here.

Looking for a little advice on how you set it up and did you do the work on it yourself?

Can you email me or call when it's easy on how?

Thanks.
