HAVASUPAI

We spent 4 amazing days in Havasupai with our good friends, the
Nystroms, the Brewers and Brian.

We hiked in on Thursday afternoon and made it to the campground
at nightfall. It took around 3 hours and the hike is 10 miles from Hilltop to
Campground. The pack I carried in weighed 33 pounds and Mikes was 45.

On Friday and Saturday we hiked approximately 20 miles and visited
Havasu Falls, Rock Falls, New Navajo Falls, Beaver Falls and Mooney
Falls. All of them were amazing but my favorite was Rock Falls.

The men in the group took every opportunity to jump off the waterfalls and
Candace even joined in the fun once. Janeen and myself opted out of the
craziness and kept our feet firmly on the ground.

The weather was warm during the day and we missed the
storm that was forecasted for Saturday.
Luckily the water is ice cold and very refreshing.

Over the course of the 4 days we hiked approximately 40 miles.

We hiked out on Sunday morning and Mike and I decided to rent the pack
mule/horse's and had them take our backpacks out. We have two triathlons
and the Tour De Scottsdale all in October and we didn't want to risk blisters or
other damage to our feet. I am so
glad we did because the 10 miles up hill was tough without the packs. It
took 4 hours, a hour longer to get out of the canyon. I could not imagine
trying it with our packs. Three people in our group did it and I was and
am very impressed! That is not a hike for the weak or faint of heart. Especially
when the Pack Mule Train comes by and you have to get out of the way, fast!

Great trip, great friends and beautiful waterfalls. Who could
ask for anything more except 'What and where are we going next?' :)
