What makes you happy?

I think there might be something wrong with me when it comes to the being happy department. Weird things make me very happy, giddy even. Don’t get me wrong, I do get happy about normal things too. You know what I mean right? Things that should make me happy. Examples –

My daughter makes me happy. Her laugh can make my day. I think that when she laughs her beauty is breathtaking.

My son walking in the door thrills me. Ever since he moved out of our home the sight of him walking through the door takes on a life of itself. Pure happiness.

My dogs always make me happy. Not only are they the cutest things on four legs but they make me laugh daily. They are sweet and loyal. More people should act like my dogs.

My husband getting excited over something, anything really, makes me happy. I love the way he looks, years younger, when he is very excited. It’s mesmerizing.

So where am I going with this you may be asking. Well it goes back to 1997 and one of those times when Michael got super excited about something. The Kirby Vacuum saleswomen actually. Not her, but the vacuum she came to show us. It was the new Kirby G5 and he was hooked. I saw the price however (keep in mind this is 1997) and at 1700.00 I was less then thrilled. However it was purchased and has been my g5 friend ever since. Only once has it been taken in for service and if I remember right the cost was only 100.00. Not bad. Now in 2010 my friend is due for some work. We took it into the Kirby store in a rather scary part of phoenix, which is another story all together, to find out the damage. The young man helping us is the Rainman of vacuums and is just going to town on my little friend. Here is what we find out…. a new vacuum is 2000.00, not a big increase in 13 years but definitely out of the budget. To do the necessary repairs on our vacuum the total was 180.00 or…………… Okay this is where my excitement comes out, he can rebuild our vacuum and not only will it look new but it will be better than the day we bought it. (they use all the new and updated parts on rebuilds) The cost for this is 500.00. BINGO!!! I can feel my heart begin to race. This is awesome news to me. My sweet husband knowing that this is the kind of crap that can make my whole week ask me if I want to do it. While I am shaking my head feverishly he gives Rainman the okay.
It has been 10 days and I have now called the service center twice to find out when I can pick it up. Today I was told a part is on backorder and as soon as they get it he will call. (I might have sensed a little irritation in his voice) Whatever, I was happy to hear my friend will be coming home soon. Weird huh?

So, what makes you happy?
