The first annual Nun Run

1st Annual Nun Run 2010
Mike and I ran in the Nun Run on Saturday and no we are not catholic. We try to do one organized event every month and so while I was searching for a run in the month of March I came across the nun run and wouldn't you know it was right up the street at Victory Lane Fields.
We ran a 10k ( that is 6.2 miles for you mere mortals )and it was a trail run. I have never done a trail run and have to say that I will probably avoid them in the future. It was very uneven, rocky and very dusty which is not ideal running conditions for us.
In case you were wondering, yes the nuns did run AND did so in their full habits. Mike and I guessed that it added close to 15 pounds of extra weight on them which made it even more humbling when we were passed by two of them.

This cute nun statue was at the podium and so of course we had to get a picture with it.
Not sure what this little box is but cant seem to delete it. :(

This was us at the end of the run and we were tired, dirty and both of us injured our left knee's somehow. ( that is why Mike has his grumpy face on ) All and all it was a fun event and we really enjoyed our run together. The event was well organized, the weather was perfect and everyone seemed to be in great moods. Thumbs up for this adventure!
